The Warwick Education Foundation proudly presents the annual Lititz Storytelling Festival, September 28 and 29, 2018.
Now in its seventh year, this popular event has developed into a premier showcase for the art of storytelling and has garnered a Mid-Atlantic Spotlight Award from the National Storytelling Network. All stories are performed, rather than simply read, creating a truly interactive experience for the audience and recalling the vanishing art of oral tradition.
The 2018 Festival features an international line-up. Attendees will hear warm, homespun stories by Donald Davis; the wit and humor of Geraldine Buckley; classic folk tales with an “Affrilachian” twist by Lyn Ford; hilarious, heartfelt stories by Andy Offutt Irwin, and traditional and contemporary stories from African and African American oral and cultural traditions by Charlotte Blake Alston.
Each storyteller will perform at Friday and Saturday evening concerts and during the day on Saturday, telling different stories at each concert. Attendees can learn from the masters and hone their own storytelling skills at a series of workshops, or sign up for the Story Swap to present their own story. The Story Swap is open to all levels of experience.
After years of tireless effort, founders Brenda Burkholder and David Worth developed and steadily grew the Lititz Storytelling Festival into a must-attend event. The Warwick Education Foundation is honored to continue to build upon Brenda and Dave’s vision and success.
“The Lititz Storytelling Festival has something for everyone, regardless of age,” says Barbara Mobley, Executive Director for the Warwick Education Foundation. “Not to mention – ‘America’s Coolest Small Town’ provides the perfect backdrop for the event. We invite you to come for the weekend, relax, explore our award-winning community, and experience the wit, wisdom and wonder of exceptional storytelling!”
The Lititz Storytelling Festival will be held at the Warwick High School Auditorium and other venues in Lititz, PA. All seats are general admission and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
