What is the Lititz Storytelling Festival?

The Lititz Storytelling Festival is an entertaining, interactive event that brings together local, regional, national and international oral storytellers who perform a wide variety of stories and conduct workshops.
The storytellers do not read stories to the audience. To paraphrase the National Storytelling Network: Storytelling is the interactive art of using words and actions to reveal the elements and images of a story while encouraging the listener’s imagination. In storytelling, the listeners imagine the story. On the other hand, in most traditional theatre or in a typical dramatic film, the viewers are shown the characters or events described in the story.
An “open mic” Story Swap and musical entertainment will also be available. Learn more on the About Us page.

What ages are appropriate?
Storytelling is truly for everyone, but is most appropriate for ages 4th grade and up. The stories that our featured tellers will perform are family-friendly, but may contain some scenes that are scary for young children (old folk tales about witches, for example).
